Turning to Nature for Healing and Bliss (or Comfort)

Lately I have been feeling the need to unplug a bit. As an author, podcaster, and social media specialist – I am on digital screens quite a bit for what I do for a living.

When I take a break from the technology I find what I want to do is be outside (granted, this is a glorious time of year in North Florida). Whether it is just sitting outside and reading on my back patio, listening to the abundant wildlife close by or discovering a new park or nature trail on the weekend with my husband – I so appreciate the time with nature. I find it healing and quite blissful.

When we reconnect with the natural world, we reconnect with an essential part of ourselves. When I experience setbacks or challenges in my life I find it tremendously healing to get outside. I am flirting with the idea of joining an Audubon group in my area or learning how to draw wildlife. I used to draw quite a bit when I was younger. Perhaps now it is time to get out the old sketchpad again…

Whatever obstacles or fears or challenges you are facing right now, I urge you to step outside. Even just for a few minutes…
